Salman Agha reprimanded after run out controversy
Pakistan batter Salman Ali Agha has been officially reprimanded and handed a demerit point following his furious reaction to a controversial run out in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
The incident occurred in the 39th over when Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the bowler, attempted to stop the ball off his own delivery. A collision with Agha at the non-striker's end ensued. While Agha was outside his crease, he tried to hand the ball to Mehidy, who instead picked it up and completed an underarm run out. The decision was upheld by TV umpire Kumar Dharmasena.
Agha reacted angrily, leading to a heated exchange before he threw his gloves and helmet onto the ground. Match referee Neeyamur Rashid Rahul found him guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Agha accepted the sanction, resulting in a reprimand and one demerit point—his first offence in 24 months.
After the match, Agha described his reaction as "heat-of-the-moment" and stated he would have "gone for sportsman spirit" if he were in Mehidy's position.
The series is tied 1-1, with the decider scheduled for Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
