Rubel Hossain retires from international cricket

Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. The 36-year-old pacer's career was defined by raw pace.

In an emotional message on Facebook, he confirmed the decision, stating, "The national team is my emotion, but there comes a time to say goodbye." He added that the national jersey would always remain close to his heart.

While his international journey has ended, Rubel intends to continue playing domestic cricket. He thanked his family, friends, media, and fans, hoping for their continued support in the next phase of his career.

The right-arm pacer played his final international series against New Zealand in 2021. He finished with 36 Test wickets, 129 ODI scalps, and 28 dismissals in T20Is. He was last seen playing for Prime Bank Cricket Club in domestic cricket in 2024.
