SRH pick Gerald Coetzee as injury replacement for David Payne
Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee as an injury replacement for David Payne. Payne played two matches for the franchise this season before being ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury.
Coetzee, who was unsold at this year's auction, has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans in the IPL and has picked up 15 wickets in 14 matches. The 25-year-old was a part of South Africa's T20 World Cup squad but did not feature in a game. He did, however, play all five T20Is against New Zealand following the marquee event. Coetzee will join SRH at INR 2 crore.
Meanwhile, SRH were also boosted by the arrival of skipper Pat Cummins. He joined their squad on Friday, April 17 and will be available for their game against the Rajasthan Royals on April 25. They are currently placed 5th on the points table and will face the Chennai Super Kings later today (April 18).
