Bangladesh's Nahida, Sarmin handed fines and demerit points
Bangladesh's Nahida Akter and Sarmin Sultana have been fined 10% of their match fees for separate Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Rajshahi on Wednesday. Both players also received one demerit point each, their first such offences in the last 24 months.
Nahida was penalised for giving Chamari Athapaththu an animated send-off after dismissing the Sri Lanka captain in the 17th over, while Sarmin was sanctioned for showing dissent after being adjudged lbw in the 16th over of Bangladesh's chase, delaying her departure and gesturing towards her bat in disagreement.
The charges were laid by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Dolly Rani Sarkar and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir Jesy. Both Nahida and Sarmin admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions imposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, avoiding formal hearings.
