IPL Pulse: Catch me if you can

984 runs were scored yesterday. Here's your 2-minute scan of the IPL-verse.

PBKS extended their unbeaten run by hunting down Delhi's 264

  • KL Rahul smashed a record-breaking 152 not-out
  • Wunderkind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi notched up his second IPL century
  • The teenager later pulled up short while fielding and had to be helped off

Lungi Ngidi was rushed to hospital by ambulance after suffering a head injury while attempting a catch. Backtracking from mid-off in the third over, Ngidi tumbled and sustained a blow to the back of his head. Play was halted for a prolonged period. A statement later confirmed Ngidi was stable and would be discharged soon.

The Capitals were allowed a concussion substitute but couldn't use Dushmantha Chameera since they had already fielded four overseas players, so Vipraj Nigam came in.

Giving-another-chance award: Shreyas Iyer for offering Karun Nair two simple catches in two overs. Both dropped. Also Travis Head, who offered Dhruv Jurel two identical chances in the first over.

High-roller award: Riyan Parag for using eight bowling options.

Smile-through-the-tears award: KL Rahul and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for scoring tons in losing causes.

Ruthless-redemption award: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for smashing four sixes off Praful Hinge's first over after falling to him in the previous game.

It's-catchfluenza-season award: April 25, 2026 for witnessing at least 15 dropped catches.

Prabhsimran Singh is making a habit of early dominance. Chasing 264, PBKS plundered 116 in the Powerplay, with Prabhsimran blasting 71 off 23. In 2024, he produced a similar assault in their chase of 262 against KKR.

"Nobody wants to see this happen to a player but we missed his [Ngidi's] four overs," lamented Venugopal Rao, DC's Director of Cricket.

"I've taken a beating due to the heat, just need to hydrate and recover… I hope I don't cramp later on," said KL Rahul, who handed the gloves to Tristan Stubbs and walked off after the Powerplay feeling dizzy.

"If you don't support your bowlers and keep giving away so many chances, then I feel we deserved to lose," said Axar Patel.

"You can't really drop catches of them and you can't really give them second chances," said Riyan Parag.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the first uncapped batter to hit two IPL hundreds.

Word is some batters are planning to get out just shy of three figures if they're batting first. Three first-innings centuries have gone in vain in just the last two days.

Reckless prediction for today: Another century will go in vain.
