IPL 2026 playoffs venues to be decided in a day or two

The BCCI stated that the venues for the IPL playoffs will be decided in a day or two. "We are working on what could be the appropriate venue for the IPL playoffs and the final. So, we will take another two days' time," said BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia.

When asked if the designated venues — Mullanpur and Bengaluru — would be awarded the playoffs by virtue of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings being the finalists and champions last year, Saikia refused to comment. "You can keep guessing, but I am not going to give you a reply. We will take a call in two days' time," he said.

There is speculation that Mullanpur may not necessarily host the playoffs again. Last season, Mullanpur hosted Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator out of turn after those matches were shifted from Hyderabad due to logistical and weather-related factors. Similarly, the final was originally slated for Eden Gardens in Kolkata but was moved to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad due to disruptions from Operation Sindoor and the onset of the monsoon.

The BCCI is yet to release the playoff schedule for the current season, except stating that the season will end on May 31. The last four matches are likely to be held on:

  • May 26 (Qualifier 1)
  • May 27 (Eliminator)
  • May 29 (Qualifier 2)
  • May 31 (Final)
