Nat Sciver-Brunt ruled out of New Zealand ODIs
Precautionary
Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series at home against New Zealand, starting on May 10. The move is a precautionary measure after the England skipper sustained a minor left calf tear while playing for The Blaze against Warwickshire on Wednesday (April 29) in the One-Day Cup.
Vice-captain Charlie Dean will lead England during the ODI leg of New Zealand's tour ahead of the home T20 World Cup. The hosts have also called up Maia Bouchier as batting cover for the bilateral series.
The scans done on Saturday (May 2) confirmed the extent of the injury. "A period of rest" is the medical advice for Sciver-Brunt with further assessment to take place in the coming days.
Consequently, Sciver-Brunt's availability for the T20I matches against New Zealand and India ahead of the World Cup will be determined in due course.
