Nahid Rana fifer inspires Bangladesh to 104-run win

Bangladesh have now won three consecutive Tests against Pakistan, claiming their first home victory over them with a 104-run win in Mirpur. Nahid Rana took 5 for 40 as the hosts took a 1-0 series lead in a match that swung until the final session.

Pakistan needed 152 runs with seven wickets in hand at tea, with debutant Abdullah Fazal on 66 and Salman Ali Agha for company. Five balls into the final session, Taijul Islam trapped Fazal LBW after a successful review. Taskin Ahmed then dismissed Salman in the next over.

Mohammad Rizwan survived an early review scare, but Rana returned to remove Saud Shakeel caught behind, then bowled Rizwan with a 147kph nip-backer. Taijul trapped Hasan Ali, and Rana finished off Noman Ali and Shaheen Afridi to seal victory.

Earlier, Bangladesh declared at 240 for 9 after adding 88 runs in 20 overs, powered by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's 87. Pakistan began their chase before lunch but lost Imam-ul-Haque to Taskin. Fazal counter-attacked with boundaries but found little support as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Brief scores: Bangladesh 413 & 240/9 decl (Najmul Hossain Shanto 87, Mominul Haque 56; Hasan Ali 3-52) beat Pakistan 386 & 163 (Abdullah Fazal 66; Nahid Rana 5-40) by 104 runs.
