CSK rope in Macneil Noronha as replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh

Chennai Super Kings have signed Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Hadley Noronha as a replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of IPL 2026. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to Cricbuzz that the five-time champions have written to the BCCI and await approval.

The 24-year-old Noronha impressed for the Mangaluru Dragons in their title-winning 2025 Maharaja Trophy campaign, scoring 253 runs from 13 games at a strike-rate of 148.82, including 19 sixes. He also took 10 wickets with his offspin at an economy of 7.44, with best figures of 2/25 in the final against Hubli Tigers. He was later called up to the Karnataka squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, playing three games.

Noronha replaces the 28-year-old Ghosh, who suffered a season-ending foot fracture on his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians on May 3. CSK have been hit hard by injuries despite their impressive second-half comeback. They have lost lead Indian seamer Khaleel Ahmed and star batter Ayush Mhatre to season-ending injuries, while Nathan Ellis was ruled out before the season and his replacement Spencer Johnson was unavailable until recently due to injury. Talisman MS Dhoni has also been absent since the start with a calf strain.

CSK replaced Mhatre with Akash Madhwal but are yet to name a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed.
