Big guns return as Pakistan name strong squad for Australia ODIs
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced a 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia on Friday (May 22). Shaheen Afridi leads a side with several high-profile names returning to the one-day setup. Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Sufyan Moqim, who did not play the Bangladesh ODIs, are included.
The squad features three uncapped ODI players: Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, and Rohail Nazir, all of whom have played T20Is.
Usman Khan was not considered due to illness. Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir are the wicketkeepers. The squad will assemble in Islamabad on Friday for a training camp.
Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were not considered due to injuries and will continue rehabilitation under the PCB medical panel.
Australia arrive in Pakistan on May 23, landing in Islamabad. The first ODI is on May 30 in Rawalpindi, with the remaining matches on June 2 and June 4 in Lahore.
Pakistan and Australia last met in a bilateral ODI series in late 2024, with Pakistan winning 2-1, their first series win in Australia in 22 years. Australia last toured Pakistan for an ODI series in 2022, which Pakistan also won 2-1.
