Ellis four-fer makes it 1-1

Australia bounced back in the ODI series in style, with Nathan Ellis taking a four-wicket haul to square the series after losing the opening game. On a low and slow Lahore surface, Australia struggled with the bat but managed to secure a convincing 41-run win.

Australia made a disastrous start after being asked to bat, as Alex Carey was dismissed first ball. Josh Inglis fetched a few boundaries, but Abrar Ahmed's introduction did the trick as Matthew Short chipped one back to the bowler. Marnus Labuschagne also departed for a low score, leaving Australia at 51/3.

Inglis then joined Cameron Green to revive Australia with a half-century stand. Inglis was the aggressor, scoring 51 before being undone by low bounce. Matt Renshaw and Oliver Peake then contributed valuable runs. Green brought up his half-century off 85 deliveries. A six and a four from Peake in the last over dragged Australia past 230.

Pakistan also struggled with the bat. Maaz Sadaqat was bowled in the first over, and Sahibzada Farhan departed soon after. Babar Azam was trapped plumb in front by Ellis. Matthew Short took wickets of Salman Agha and Abdul Samad. When Ghazi Ghori's stumps were rearranged by Zampa, Pakistan were reduced to 78/6.

Shadab Khan fought back alongside Arafat Minhas, sharing a crucial half-century stand. Shadab brought up his fifty and Shaheen Afridi added some quick runs, but Short struck again as Shaheen edged behind. Ellis returned to claim his fourth wicket, and Tanveer Sangha ended Shadab's 104-ball vigil to seal the win for Australia.

Brief scores: Australia 231/9 in 50 overs (Cameron Green 53, Josh Inglis 51; Shaheen Afridi 3-36, Arafat Minhas 2-27) beat Pakistan 190 in 44.1 overs (Shadab Khan 71; Nathan Ellis 4-33; Matthew Short 3-36) by 41 runs
