Sooryavanshi Effect: Tri-Series of A Teams in Sri Lanka to Be Telecast Live
The inclusion of teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (15) in the India A squad has prompted broadcasters to televise the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka involving India, Afghanistan, and the hosts.
Sooryavanshi lit up the recently concluded IPL with 776 runs, winning the Orange Cap. His presence has elevated the profile of the series, led by Tilak Varma.
The tri-series, scheduled from June 9 to 21, will be broadcast live on Sony Sports and Sony LIV, the official broadcast partner of Sri Lanka Cricket. Sony, having recently missed out on the World Cup and IPL, is capitalizing on the Sooryavanshi fever.
Sony also holds rights to the India-Sri Lanka bilateral Test series, scheduled for the second half of August. The Lanka Premier League (LPL) will air on Jio Hotstar.
Sony announced on social media: "The Sooryavanshi Express is coming to light up the stage in a high-octane Tri-series." The one-day series will be played in Dambulla.
Meanwhile, three T20Is may be added to the two-Test series, though no confirmation has been made. The BCCI has confirmed Ruturaj Gaikwad will replace vice-captain Riyan Parag, who is recovering from injury.
