All-round Kathryn Bryce powers Scotland to third win
Scotland put their 34-run defeat to Bangladesh behind them, trumping Netherlands by 24 runs via DLS in a truncated affair. Skipper Kathryn Bryce was the star, top-scoring with 63 and taking a wicket at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
Netherlands opted to field first after rain delayed the start, reducing the contest to 12 overs per side. Katherine Fraser hit a six in the first over, but Heather Siegers dismissed Darcey Carter next over. Kathryn Bryce quickly settled in, hitting boundaries off Silver Siegers before Fraser repeated the feat against Isabel van der Woning. Scotland passed 50 in the sixth over.
Caroline de Lange cleaned up Fraser for 29, but Bryce peppered the fence to raise a fifty off 28 balls. Sarah Bryce (23* off 12) provided support as the pair took 17 off the 10th over, pushing Scotland to 110. Kathryn fell to Iris Zwelling, ending the sisters' 58-run partnership. A dry 10-ball phase followed, but Scotland finished with 124.
With the ball, Bryce bowled Phebe Molkenboer for three in the second over. Heather Siegers struck three fours but fell for 15, caught by Bryce. Netherlands captain Babette de Leede hit two sixes off Olivia Bell, while Sterre Kalis found the boundary twice in the sixth over.
At 59/2 in six overs, rain revised Netherlands' target to 105 in 10 overs. Chloe Abel dismissed de Leede for 14, and Kalis fell in the eighth over. Needing 30 off the final over, Netherlands managed just five runs, with Robine Rijke run out off the penultimate ball.
Brief Scores: Scotland Women 124/3 in 12 overs (Kathryn Bryce 63, Katherine Fraser 29; Iris Zwelling 1-25) beat Netherlands Women 80/6 in 10 overs (Sterre Kalis 28, Heather Siegers 15; Chloe Abel 2-8, Priyanaz Chatterji 1-7) by 24 runs via DLS.
