Ashok Sharma replaces injured Yudhvir Singh in India A squad

Fast bowler Ashok Sharma has replaced Yudhvir Singh in the India A squad for the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday.

Yudhvir reported discomfort in his right shoulder on two occasions last week — while bowling on June 13 and during a fielding session on June 11. He has been advised to undergo a graduated rehabilitation programme at the BCCI Centre of Excellence for a right rotator cuff injury.

Ashok has had a meteoric rise in recent months. He was joint-highest wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before making his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans. He hit 154.2 kmph during the tournament and played six games.

India A, led by Tilak Varma, have played three matches so far. After a tight win against Sri Lanka A, they lost to Afghanistan A in another close finish, then fell to the hosts in a Super Over on Monday.
