Litton, Taskin to Miss Zimbabwe T20Is Due to LPL Commitments
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials confirmed Friday that T20I skipper Litton Kumar Das and pacer Taskin Ahmed will miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Both players have been granted No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Litton, sidelined from the ongoing T20I series against Australia due to a muscle tear, is expected to play in the one-off Test match. Taskin is likely to be part of the ODI squad, pending selection.
"They (Litton and Taskin) are not part of the Zimbabwe T20Is as they have been given NOCs for the LPL," said Shahriar Nafees, BCB cricket operations in-charge. "Apart from them, Mehidy Hasan, Hasan Mahmud and Shakib Al Hasan have also been given NOCs for the LPL."
Taskin and Shakib will play for Jaffna Kings, while Litton and Mehidy Hasan will represent Galle Gallants in the LPL, scheduled from July 17 to August 8. Hasan Mahmud, currently playing county cricket for Kent, is expected to join Colombo Kaps before the LPL begins.
The first batch of Test squad members will depart Dhaka on June 21, with others joining later. A preparation camp in Sylhet was disrupted by rain.
"Test squad members not involved in white-ball cricket will leave for Zimbabwe on Sunday (July 21)," added Nafees.
The tour starts with a one-off Test at Harare Sports Club from June 28, followed by a three-match ODI series on July 6, 9, and 11 at the same venue. The T20I series will be held in Bulawayo at Queen's Sports Club on July 15, 17, and 19.
