Jay Shah, Devajit Saikia meet SLC leadership in Colombo

ICC Chairman Jay Shah and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia met with Sri Lanka Cricket's leadership in Colombo on Friday (June 19), where discussions centred around the ongoing governance transition process within Sri Lanka's cricket administration.

According to a media release by Sri Lanka Cricket, the meeting focused on the current state of cricket administration and the progress made by the committee overseeing governance reforms. SLC briefed Shah and Saikia on measures undertaken to strengthen governance structures and constitutional and administrative reforms aimed at ensuring long-term stability.

The Sri Lankan board also shared indicative timelines for completing the reform process and restoring governance through a duly elected administration in line with the applicable legal and constitutional framework. The ICC delegation was updated on milestones achieved so far and steps being taken to ensure a smooth and transparent transition.

Shah welcomed the update and reiterated the ICC's commitment to supporting member boards in promoting good governance, transparency and the growth of the game. "Sri Lanka Cricket expressed its appreciation to Mr. Shah and Mr. Saikia for taking the time to visit Colombo and engage in a constructive dialogue on the future direction of cricket administration in Sri Lanka," the release stated.

The discussions also touched upon cricket development initiatives, bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between Sri Lanka Cricket, the ICC and the BCCI.
