Boult, Bosch and Pooran hand MI New York first points

Defending champions MI New York registered their first win of the MLC 2026 season, beating Texas Super Kings by eight wickets at Grand Prairie Stadium. Trent Boult and Corbin Bosch led a clinical bowling effort before Nicholas Pooran anchored the chase with an unbeaten 68.

After suffering a heavy defeat less than 24 hours earlier, MINY responded immediately. Boult struck early, removing Smit Patel in the opening over and then sending back Rilee Rossouw with a delivery that jagged in sharply, leaving Texas at 20 for 2.

Without captain Faf du Plessis (back spasm), Texas never recovered. Bosch struck before the end of the Powerplay to leave them 36 for 3. Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane rebuilt with a 65-run partnership, but MINY kept striking at key moments. Ranjane fell one short of a fifty, while Bosch removed Donovan Ferreira and Wiaan Mulder. Texas folded for 158 with four balls remaining.

MINY's chase started emphatically. Quinton de Kock took on Akeal Hosein for two fours and a six in the first over. Monank Patel was dropped in the third over, a costly miss. Monank and de Kock added a brisk 49-run stand before Monank and Pooran put on 64 together. Monank departed for 46, leaving Pooran to finish the job. He shifted gears at the back end, finding boundaries regularly as the target neared, remaining unbeaten on 68 as MINY won with 14 balls to spare.

Brief scores: Texas Super Kings 158 in 19.2 overs (Shubham Ranjane 49, Milind Kumar 39; Corbin Bosch 4-29, Trent Boult 3-18) lost to MI New York 162/2 in 17.4 overs (Nicholas Pooran 68*, Monank Patel 46; Hardus Viljoen 1-29) by eight wickets.
