Ireland-India T20Is to start early due to Women's T20 WC clash
Cricket Ireland confirmed the two T20Is against India will begin at 1:30 pm local time (6 pm IST), an hour earlier than the typical 7 pm IST start for India matches. The change was made to reduce overlap with the India-Australia Women's World Cup match at Lord's, which starts at 7 pm IST on Sunday (June 28).
The matches, played for the Spinny Cup, will still clash partially but the adjustment minimises the overlap. Cricket Ireland told Cricbuzz the Women's T20 WC fixture was considered when setting start times. CI discussed the matter with Indian broadcaster Sony Sports, who agreed to the revised timing.
The five T20Is in England that follow have varied start times: two at 7 pm IST (July 4 in Manchester, July 11 in Southampton) and three at 10 pm IST (Chester-le-Street, Nottingham, Bristol). The three ODIs after that start at 3:30 pm IST.
Broadcasters for the England series: Sony Sports (linear) and JioStar (digital).
Three additional T20Is in Sri Lanka unlikely
Cricbuzz learned the proposed three T20Is are unlikely to be added to India's two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in late August. While the BCCI said the proposal was under consideration, the extra matches are now not expected to materialise. The two Tests, part of the WTC cycle, are scheduled for August 15-27.
