Jurel ton, Nuwanidu fifty headline rain-hit day
Only 57.4 overs of play were possible on Day 2 of the first unofficial Test between Sri Lanka A and India A in Galle. Captain Dhruv Jurel's unbeaten 141 set up a declaration on 452/6, before India A picked up two wickets as Sri Lanka A finished on 114/2.
Resuming on 68, Jurel began with a boundary in the first over. Shaik Rasheed added ten to his overnight 53 before being bowled by Chamika Gunasekara. Jurel moved to 97 before rain forced early Lunch 14 overs into the session.
After further interruptions, Jurel raised his hundred and pushed for quick runs with Harsh Dubey. They added 86 for the sixth wicket before Gunasekara dismissed Dubey for 30. Jurel declared at Tea after India A passed 450.
Anshul Kamboj dismissed Niroshan Dickwella for 10, while Auqib Nabi was tidy from the other end. Nuwanidu Fernando battled with Pawantha Weerasinghe, but Yash Thakur bowled Weerasinghe. At 38/2, Ashen Bandara joined Nuwanidu and played second fiddle as the scoring rate increased.
Nuwanidu raised a half-century against the spinners, seeing the hosts to Stumps. Sri Lanka A trail by 339 runs, with the stand between Nuwanidu and Bandara worth 75.
