Sri Lanka quartet out of second West Indies Test
Sri Lanka Cricket have confirmed four players are unavailable for the second Test against the West Indies, starting Friday in Antigua. Sri Lanka trail 1-0 in the two-match series.
Pathum Nissanka – Persistent wrist pain after the first Test required surgery. He left for the UK on June 30.
Lahiru Kumara – Pulled up with a right hamstring injury after bowling just one over in the first Test. Sustained a Grade 1 tear and is now in rehabilitation.
Vishwa Fernando – Experienced right-sided lower back, trunk and hip pain while bowling in the warm-up match. Has not fully recovered despite showing steady progress.
Ramesh Mendis – Recovering from a bacterial infection contracted during the tour. He last played in February 2025.
The West Indies posted 626/9 in the first Test, including a 401-run stand between Amir Jangoo and Roston Chase, after Sri Lanka ran out of bowling options.
