BCB keen to offer Mushfiqur coaching role

After bringing Mahmudullah into mentoring and coaching roles, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials said they are looking to offer Mushfiqur Rahim similar opportunities should he be interested.

Whether Mushfiqur will follow Mahmudullah's path after retirement has become a topic of discussion, following the latter's appointment as batting coach for the Bangladesh A team tour of Australia.

Faim Sinha, BCB's game development chairman, indicated they will offer Mushfiqur a similar post after he retires from all forms of international cricket. Mushfiqur currently plays only Tests and domestic cricket.

"Mahmudullah, Mushfiq, those who have played at this level in our country, who played international cricket for so many years at the top level – presenting that experience to our players is our responsibility," Faim told Cricbuzz.

"If Mushfiq has a coaching interest or is interested in working with cricket, with the experience he has, we will definitely want him to come here and contribute. It will be our failure if we cannot bring him in."

Faim also said they are forming a three-member technical committee to assess local coaches' performance, an area needing major focus.

"We are forming a three-member technical committee to evaluate the performance of local coaches, with Salahuddin Mohammad, Mizanur Rahman Babul, and Sohel Islam," said Faim.

"There will be a workshop for coaches on KPI implementation, and an evaluation process will be created."

He added they plan to raise coaches' salaries, with district coaches set for at least a 70% increase through a new grading system.
