India squad for Zimbabwe T20Is: Samson excluded; Rinku, Mayank return

India have named a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe starting July 23 in Harare. The squad features several changes from the one currently competing against England. Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna are notable omissions. The BCCI has not clarified why these players were left out.

Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur have earned maiden India call-ups. Rinku Singh headlines the returning players. Prabhsimran Singh, last in the squad during the 2023 Asian Games, has been recalled. Mayank Yadav, who last played for India in 2024, and uncapped Harsh Dubey complete the additions.

Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur impressed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, taking 22 and 18 wickets respectively. Thakur claimed his wickets from seven games at an average of 9.88 and an economy of 6.80. Sharma, who made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans, took six wickets from six matches and bowled the fastest delivery of the season (154.2 kph). Both recently featured for India A in Sri Lanka.

Prabhsimran Singh was rewarded for consistent IPL performances, scoring 579 runs in 2025 and 510 runs in 2026 at an average of 42.50 and strike-rate of 168.87. With Ishan Kishan also in the squad, Prabhsimran is likely to serve as reserve wicketkeeper.

Mayank Yadav returns for the first time since 2024 after missing parts of IPL 2025 due to injury. He returned in early 2026, playing for India A against the USA in a T20 World Cup warm-up, and went wicketless in four IPL 2026 matches.

Harsh Dubey earned his maiden T20I call-up after making his India debut in the ODI series against Afghanistan in June. He took eight wickets in eight matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026.

Dube named Nitish Reddy's replacement for England ODIs

Shivam Dube will replace Nitish Reddy in India's squad for the ODIs against England. Reddy was earlier ruled out of the T20Is with a quadriceps injury and has not recovered in time for the ODI series.
