India suffered a double injury setback in England, with Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy ruled out of the fourth and fifth T20Is after sustaining hamstring injuries.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said both players picked up the injuries during the third T20I at Trent Bridge. "The BCCI Medical Team has assessed them and ruled them out of the fourth and fifth T20Is," the board further said in a media release. Replacements for the duo haven't been announced.
The injuries come soon after both players had returned from lengthy rehabilitation spells.
Chakaravarthy had fractured the toe on his left foot during IPL 2026 but played through the pain before missing a home rubber against Afghanistan and the T20I series in Ireland as he continued his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The spinner had a quiet return against England, returning figures of 0 for 35 in Nottingham and 1 for 37 in Manchester.
Rana, meanwhile, had suffered a knee injury during India's warm-up match against South Africa ahead of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup, forcing him to miss the tournament. He subsequently underwent surgery before making his return during the T20I series in Ireland.
