USA, Canada cricket to stay suspended; Mauritius membership confirmed
USA Cricket (USAC) and Cricket Canada (CC) will remain suspended, while France Cricket has been put on notice. These decisions were taken by the ICC during its Annual Conference in Edinburgh.
The ICC granted Associate membership to the Mauritius Cricket Federation, bringing total ICC membership to 111 – 12 Full Members and 99 Associate Members.
The status quo was maintained for USAC and CC. Restoring USAC membership was discussed in the context of the LA28 Olympics, but a decision was deferred. USAC has been suspended since September 2025.
Cricket Canada, suspended in June, must address internal issues. USA's Major League Cricket (MLC) may expand into Canada, and the ICC may wait to see how that develops.
There is no immediate indication the World Test Championship will expand to 12 teams by including Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland. No decision was made on reducing ODIs to 40 overs.
A presentation on ICC strategy for the next cycle and proposals on restructuring the game were discussed. JioStar, the ICC's official media partner, also made a presentation. Details remain unclear.
The conference ran from July 8 to July 11.
