Spinners wrap up whopping 270-run win for India

India wrapped up a resounding 270-run win in the one-off Test at Lord's, registering their second biggest Test win by runs. England added 56 runs to their overnight score of 130/6, going down comprehensively as India extended their unblemished Test record on English shores.

Chasing 457, England resumed on the final day needing a miracle. Harmanpreet Kaur began with spin and deployed catchers around the bat, including two short leg fielders. Amy Jones added just two runs to her overnight 52 before falling. Sophie Ecclestone was dropped twice but pinched boundaries to delay the inevitable while Issy Wong blocked away, taking 23 balls to get off the mark.

Wong's 33-ball vigil ended bowled by Deepti Sharma. Deepti then cleaned up Lauren Bell at the drinks break. Ecclestone reached her half-century and survived an LBW review before Sneh Rana landed the killer blow with a sharp turning delivery that disturbed her stumps.

The victory marked India's fourth against England in women's Tests – their most against a single opponent. The win was set up by Bhatia's second innings hundred, Gaud's first innings five-for, and Smriti Mandhana's twin fifties.

Brief Scores: India Women 285 (Mandhana 83, Kaur 58; Ecclestone 3-68) & 341/7 decl. (Bhatia 113, Mandhana 70; Ecclestone 5-118) beat England Women 170 (Jones 52; Gaud 5-37, Satghare 2-40) & 176 (Jones 54, Ecclestone 50; Rana 4-42) by 270 runs.
