Markram, Wolvaardt Win Big at CSA Awards
Aiden Markram and Laura Wolvaardt were named men's and women's player of the year at CSA's annual awards ceremony in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Markram's award was sealed by his 136 in the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord's in June. He batted for almost six-and-a-half hours, facing 207 balls, hitting 14 fours. He also scored 110 off 98 to help South Africa chase 359 against India in Raipur.
Wolvaardt scored centuries in consecutive innings at the 2025 World Cup: 169 off 143 in the semifinal win over England, and 101 off 98 in the final loss to India. She also made three other ODI centuries and two T20I hundreds during the period.
Both were also named players' player of the year.
Simon Harmer won Test player of the year with 13 wickets in Pakistan and 17 at 8.94 in India, playing a key role in South Africa's first Test series win in India in over 25 years.
Lungi Ngidi was fans' player of the year for his second-innings performance in the WTC final and his white-ball mastery.
The Makhaya Ntini power of cricket award went to Sinalo Jafta, who overcame struggles with alcoholism.
