Litton Das called for disciplinary hearing by BCB over China trip

Bangladesh's T20I skipper Litton Kumar Das was summoned by the Bangladesh Cricket Board's disciplinary committee for a hearing on Sunday after breaching the board's Code of Conduct, a BCB official confirmed.

After missing the Test series, Litton went to Zimbabwe for the ODIs but returned home shortly after not recovering fully from a calf injury. He then went to China without communicating with the BCB, which did not sit well with the board's higher-ups, as they were unsure about his injury status.

His actions prompted the BCB to call him for a disciplinary hearing, as they felt that being a centrally contracted cricketer, leaving without informing the board constitutes a breach of the Code of Conduct.

"He (Litton) went to China, (which) the board didn't take well. The board called him and asked him why and with whose permission he went to China," a BCB source told Cricbuzz.

BCB director Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir confirmed the hearing took place on Sunday, adding that the board "will not tolerate indiscipline from any player".

"He gave his statement during the hearing. Now we have to talk with the medical committee and cross-check the whole matter. But, with what we have heard, we think he is saying the truth," said Alamgir.

He noted that Litton "doesn't have a track record" of disciplinary issues and suggested the player may be "little bit frustrated as he couldn't play the Sri Lankan T20 League (Lanka Premier League)."

"There was just a communication gap. This is not something that is intentional or some sort of a violation, but even after there is a communication gap, he still has breached the contract," he said.

"We have to do something about it, even if it is a small thing, so that he is aware in the future. Even the board president wants this message to go to the players, so that they follow the rules and regulations properly."

Alamgir added the disciplinary committee will make a final decision on punishment based on the BCB's Code of Conduct guidelines.
