Naveen-ul-Haq returns for India T20Is

Naveen-ul-Haq is set to return to international cricket after being selected for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India in Delhi. This series will also mark Ibrahim Zadran's first as Afghanistan's T20I captain.

Naveen has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury that ruled him out of the Asia Cup last year and the T20 World Cup earlier this year. He subsequently underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his right shoulder.

The 26-year-old, who retired from ODI cricket after the 2023 World Cup, last featured for Afghanistan in December 2024. The ACB also confirmed the return of experienced allrounder Gulbadin Naib to bolster the middle order and bowling department.

Following impressive performances in domestic cricket and the Shpageeza Cricket League, uncapped wicketkeeper Noor Rahman has been picked as the backup gloveman.

Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad and Nangyal Kharoti are the four spinners in the 15-man squad.

The three T20Is are scheduled for September 13, 15 and 17.
