Inglis Out of Final Two SA ODIs with Fractured Finger

Australia wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the second and third ODIs against South Africa due to a fractured right index finger. The injury occurred while keeping in the first ODI in Durban, where Inglis continued to play and scored 3 off 8 from No. 4.

He is now out of the reckoning for the matches in Johannesburg (September 27) and Potchefstroom (September 30). Inglis faces a race against time to recover for the Test series starting in Durban on October 9. Although he is the backup keeper to Alex Carey, he could still make the XI as a specialist batter if he recovers in time.

Cricket Australia confirmed Inglis is returning to Perth for medical scans, with his Test availability subject to further assessment. Australia have not named a replacement for the remaining ODIs but may need to consider options for the Test series if he does not recover.

Australia trails the ODI series 0-1 following a 67-run defeat in the opener.
