CSK part ways with Mike Hussey; James Foster’s future uncertain

CSK Coaching Shake‑up Ahead of 2027 Season

• Mike Hussey has been removed from CSK’s coaching staff after eight years as batting coach.
• Stephen Fleming is also out as head coach; Zaheer Khan has been appointed in his place.
• Former bowling coach Eric Simons departs, with Mohit Sharma taking over the role.
• The future of James Foster (fielding coach) is still undecided; his contract extension is on hold.

What This Means

• Hussey, a former CSK player (2008‑2013, 2015) and batting coach since 2018, has been formally notified of the decision. He is reportedly in contact with other IPL franchises.
• The new appointments reflect a strong influence from MS Dhoni and owner Rupa Gurunath, who is expected to finalize remaining coaching positions after returning from the SA20 auction.
