Bhuvneshwar Kumar Added to India Squad for Bengaluru Decider
Veteran seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been added to the India squad for the 5th T20I against the West Indies, following a shoulder injury to Arshdeep Singh during the 4th T20I in Hyderabad. Arshdeep retired hurt after facing one delivery, with the West Indies winning the match to level the series 2-2.
The BCCI has not clarified if Bhuvneshwar’s inclusion is precautionary, noting that Arshdeep remains in the squad and his participation in the final game will depend on his recovery. Bhuvneshwar, who has been out of favor with selectors for four years, returns to the side after two successful IPL campaigns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He was also selected for India’s T20 squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour starting October 22.
His last appearance for the national team was in November 2022 against New Zealand in Napier. The 36-year-old seamer is likely to be in contention for the fifth T20I, scheduled for October 17 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
