DC Appoint Chaminda Vaas as Fast Bowling Coach
Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Chaminda Vaas has been named Delhi Capitals' fast bowling coach ahead of the 2027 IPL season. This marks his maiden IPL coaching stint.
Vaas, who took 355 Test wickets and 400 in ODIs, joins the new-look Capitals' backroom staff led by head coach Sourav Ganguly. He replaces Munaf Patel, who served as the team's bowling coach for the previous two seasons. Earlier this week, DC also appointed Yuvraj Singh as their assistant and batting coach.
The 52-year-old has previously coached Sri Lanka's men's team in the same capacity across three separate stints. His coaching career began with a brief contract with New Zealand before his first appointment with Sri Lanka from 2013 to 2015. In 2016, he served as Ireland's bowling coach for the T20 World Cup before returning to Sri Lanka.
Vaas has prior IPL experience, having played for the Deccan Chargers between 2008 and 2010, where he claimed 18 wickets in 13 games.
