Amit Mishra Returns to Delhi Capitals as Spin Bowling Coach
Veteran spinner Amit Mishra has been appointed as the spin bowling coach for Delhi Capitals. He joins a recently overhauled backroom staff that includes:
- Sourav Ganguly (Head Coach)
- Yuvraj Singh (Assistant Coach)
- Chaminda Vaas (Fast Bowling Coach)
Player Profile & IPL Legacy
Mishra brings extensive IPL experience, having played 162 matches across 16 seasons since the inaugural 2008 edition. He began his career with the franchise (then Delhi Daredevils) and spent 10 seasons with the team.
- Career Stats: 174 IPL wickets, including a five-wicket haul (5/17).
- Unique Distinction: The only player in IPL history to take three hat-tricks, each for a different team:
- Delhi Daredevils (2008)
- Deccan Chargers (2011)
- Sunrisers Hyderabad (2013)
Impact on Current Squad
This appointment is expected to benefit DC’s newest recruit, left-arm wrist spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who arrived in a trade with SRH (sending T Natarajan to Hyderabad). The move also supports the development of leg-spinners Vipraj Nigam and Rehan Ahmed, should the franchise choose to retain them for the upcoming season.
