Nyamhuri, Shumba named in Zimbabwe squad for Bangladesh T20Is
Exciting fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri and batter Milton Shumba have been included in the 15-man Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. The selectors have largely stuck with the same squad that had a dream run in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, where they reached the Super Eights.
The 20-year-old Nyamhuri, who made his ODI and Test debut in December 2024, has impressed against Bangladesh in the one-off Test and the opening ODI with contributions in both bat and ball. He is yet to make his T20I debut. Shumba's last T20I appearance was in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Zimbabwe T20I Squad: Sikandar Raza (C), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Ben Curran, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, Milton Shumba.
Veteran Sikandar Raza continues to lead the team. Ben Curran, who replaced an injured Brendan Taylor during the T20 World Cup, has retained his spot. Graeme Cremer was not considered due to a left-arm fracture.
The three matches will be played on July 15, 17, and 19 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
"The T20 World Cup showed what this group is capable of, so continuity was an important consideration," said Convener of Selectors David Mutendera. "We wanted to keep together the core of a squad that reached the Super Eight while also creating room for players who have earned their opportunities. This series gives the team another opportunity to keep growing as we build towards major international tournaments ahead."
