Date: October 18-21, 2026
Venue: HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala

Himachal Pradesh will host Mumbai in a crucial Elite Group D fixture of the 92nd edition of the Ranji Trophy, starting on October 18, 2026. The five-day encounter will be played at the scenic HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, a venue well-known for its batting-friendly pitches that tend to offer assistance to fast bowlers as the match progresses.

The 2026-27 Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class competition, kicked off on October 11 with 38 teams competing across the Elite and Plate divisions. The Elite competition features 32 teams split into four groups of eight, with the opening phase running until November 5 before resuming in January. The knockouts begin on February 9, 2027, with the final slated for March 3.

Team Squads

Himachal Pradesh have named a strong squad for the tournament, featuring Nehal Wadhera, Pukhraj Mann, Shubham Arora, Amanpreet Singh, Mukul Negi, Nitin Sharma, Aryanman Singh Dhaliwal, Innesh Mahajan, Vaibhav Kalta, Akash Vasisht, Arpit Guleria, Divesh Sharma, Hritik Kalia, Harshit Sandal, and Jitender Rana. The mountainous state will look to leverage their home advantage and the unique conditions at Dharamsala to upset a well-balanced Mumbai side.

Mumbai, captained by Siddhesh Lad with Ayush Mhatre as vice-captain, boast one of the deepest squads in the competition. Their lineup includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ayush Mhatre, Divyaansh Saxena, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Suved Parkar, Aakash Anand, Hardik Tamore, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Atharva Ankolekar, Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Avasthi, Sylvester Dsouza, and Onkar Tarmale. The presence of star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and a potent bowling attack makes them firm favourites heading into this clash.

Key Players to Watch

• Yashasvi Jaiswal (Mumbai): The explosive opening batter has been in exceptional form and will be pivotal for Mumbai's top order. His ability to dominate the bowling attack early can set the tone for Mumbai's innings.

• Siddhesh Lad (Mumbai): The experienced captain leads from the front and brings valuable first-class experience to the Mumbai dressing room.

• Hrishikesh Kanitkar / Harshit Sandal (Himachal Pradesh): Himachal will need their bowlers to fire to contain Mumbai's batting depth, with Sandal expected to play a key role with the ball.

Match Outlook

Mumbai arrive as the stronger side on paper, with their balanced combination of world-class batting and varied bowling making them dangerous opponents on any pitch. However, Himachal Pradesh have proven to be resilient home teams, and the Dharamsala venue often produces interesting challenges for visiting sides.

The key battle will be between Mumbai's powerful batting lineup and Himachal's bowling attack. If Mumbai's pacers can exploit the initial movement and later swing, they could restrict Himachal to a competitive total before turning the tables with their own batting.

For Himachal Pradesh, the challenge will be to exploit the pitch characteristics and put Mumbai's bowlers under pressure early. A strong start from their top order, led by players like Pukhraj Mann and Shubham Arora, will be crucial.
